Woman charged with murder and rape of schoolgirl, 12, found inside suitcase

Lola Daviet’s mutilated body was found in a suitcase just a few streets away from her home in the city’s 19th arrondissement.

A 24-year-old woman has been charged with the murder, rape and torture of a schoolgirl in Paris. Lola Daviet’s mutilated body was found in a suitcase just a few streets away from her home in the city’s 19th arrondissement.

Dahbia B, a homeless woman from Algeria, was brought before examining magistrates on Monday and indicted in connection with the 12-year-old’s brutal killing. Chilling CCTV footage from last Friday shows the Lola entering the apartment building where she lived just behind her alleged murderer.

The youngster’s parents Delphine and Johan Daviet reported her missing on Friday at roughly 4pm after fearing she had been abducted when she never returned home from school – which is just around the corner from their flat. As reported by the Mirror, her mother said: “Lola knows that on Fridays you go straight home because we go to Béthune, the family village, a three-hour drive north of Paris.”

Johan decided they should check the CCTV of their building which is when they saw their 12-year-old daughter entering the building with a stranger. Lola’s mother wrote on Facebook that their daughter was “last seen in the company of a girl we don’t know, in our residence.”

Lola’s corpse was then found around 11pm that night by a homeless man. Her throat had been slit and her body was disturbingly bound and gagged inside the suitcase, with the numbers 1 and 0 scrawled across her chest.

Witnesses who spoke with the press said they said the suspect entered the building alone, she then “came out, half an hour later with a large, very heavy suitcase.”

They continued: “She asked everyone she met to help her carry it. She seemed a little crazy. At one point she left the suitcase in front of a café, she came and went, went in and out, we wondered what was inside her but we would never have thought of a body.

“Then she went to the bakery in front of the café to buy a croissant, she came back like it was nothing, she looked a little unsteady.”

One investigating source said evidence suggests that the girl was taken into the basement of the flat, where she was tortured, and raped, before being strangled and having her throat cut. They continued: “The suspect is believed to suffer from serious psychological problems. She was living on the street, but had friends and family in the Paris area.”

A judicial source confirmed that Dahbia B was in custody and charged with “the murder of a child under 15, rape, and torture”. A post-mortem examination on Saturday concluded that Lola died of asphyxiation following a physical attack that included being cut with a knife.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday at her sister’s home in the northern Paris suburb of Bois-Colombe. One resident said he saw the suspect dragging the suitcase around two hours prior to Lola’s disappearance.

“We saw her go into the building, and she was dragging the suitcase with her…She did not seem right in the mind.”

The whole neighbourhood has been plunged into a nightmare, with everyone living in the block in a state of disbelief. The students at Lola’s school are receiving psychological support.
