I want to play aggressively like Butler: Zalmai’s rising batsman Harris

Emerging offensive batsman Mohammad Haris, who represented Peshawar Zalmai in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, has termed England’s Jose Butler as his favorite player in cricket and said that he wants to play aggressive cricket like him.

Answering questions from host Abdul Ghaffar on Dawn News’ replay program, Harris said: “I am following England wicketkeeper-batsman Jose Butler and I want to play aggressively like him.

“Now I am slowly moving towards Mohammad Rizwan as if he is batting,” he said.

The batsman, who scored 70 off 32 balls against Islamabad United, said: “I was called Google in the Under-19s because I had a lot of information and could answer questions from my teammates, so they called me Google.” Kept

Giving credit for the best performance in PSL to Peshawar Zalmi, he said that he supported and secondly I had tried and worked hard, at the same time he gave confidence.

“I did not let this opportunity go to waste and I thought that if this opportunity is lost then cricket will be difficult and if given a chance I won the best player award in two out of three matches,” he said.

Mohammad Harris said that it is very difficult for an emerging player to play like this because batsmen have less opportunities in PSL as it is one of the best bowling in the world and Zalmai administration gave me the freedom to play.

“Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal is helping a lot and teaching in both the fields. It is my good fortune that I am playing with experienced players like Kamran Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik,” he said.

Praising captain Wahab Riaz, he said that he has given me the freedom to play and considers me as the vice-captain in capping.

To a question, he said that no one in the family played cricket, but the brothers used to play first and played cricket till 2010. Later, he left cricket. He was the only player in the family, but now my cousin is also playing cricket.

It may be recalled that Mohammad Haris had batted brilliantly against Islamabad United in the 24th match of PSL two days ago and scored 70 runs off just 32 balls with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes.

Mohammad Harris was declared the best player of the match for this brilliant performance.

Earlier, Karachi had scored 49 off 27 balls against the Kings and led the team to victory by 56 runs.

On the points table, Peshawar Zalmi is at the third position with 10 points after playing 9 matches and has won 5 matches so far.
